Unlock the Potential of Young Talent

The program provides an opportunity to non-profit organizations as well as private companies to hire a youth between the age of 16 and 30 years old by offering funding covering part of the employee’s salary.

For non-profit organizations, a financial contribution up to 70% of the candidate’s wages, including benefits.

As for private employers, public sector organizations and municipalities, financial contributions may go up to 50% of the candidate’s wages.

The program allows employers to create diversity in their workforce all while giving youth the chance to develop their essential skills with a work placement.

Expertise

Gain access to a group of students whose expertise matches your business needs and receive support from the YCW team while searching for candidates.

Subsidies

The program covers the fees of a round trip from the student’s place of residence to the workplace and a wage increase (varies depending on destination) as partial compensation for housing costs incurred by participants.

Yes, you can apply for more than one position. The number of funded positions may vary according to the budget allocated for the financial cycle (April 1st to March 31st).

The earliest a candidate can be hired is April 1st and participants must have worked all approved hours before March 31st of the following year. Employment periods may be part-time, full-time and can start in the Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter (no later than January).

No, Work permit holders are not admissible. Candidates must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or hold a refugee status granted by Immigration Canada.

No, candidates already on your payroll are not eligible to participate.

The employment period must be for a minimum of 180 hours and a maximum of 640 hours.
