When I think about the history of unethically acquired works in museums, I feel motivated to provide accurate information while cataloguing. I feel grateful that I get to apply aspects of my Chinese-Canadian heritage to the database, so that future visitors can draw on this knowledge.

I have already learned a lot about archives and associations, and I will have more opportunities in the future as well with research and work in museums. YCW has greatly contributed to enhancing my skills, and the work environment has given me the chance to interact socially in my second language.

I worked as a Marketing and Community Engagement Assistant for the Winnipeg Sea Bears of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) this summer. YCW allowed me to obtain priceless experience and take a key step towards my dream career in sports. Without the program, my job this summer would not have existed. I had so much fun this summer – thank you to the entire YCW team

During my summer job, I learned a great deal and had the opportunity to work on various projects, which allowed me to develop my skills and improve my employability. The experience I gained has been invaluable and has paved the way for future opportunities

My experience opened doors in social inclusion and community engagement. I gained project management and resource development skills to support Francophone families in Ontario, which I still use today. This experience also helped improve my French, especially in a professional setting, enhancing my ability to communicate effectively in both official languages.

YCW was a great way to gain paid work experience and build my professional skills while remaining a student. I was able to advance my professional development while delivering valuable contributions. I worked at a charity organization, which was meaningful and helped provide insight into this sector. This helped me better understand my strengths and gave me a clearer perspective on how I want to shape my career.

My experience as a YCW Project Officer helped me grow both professionally and personally. I developed strong independence in decision-making, improved my organizational skills, and enhanced my communication abilities in both official languages.
